This is not a rebranding of familiar apologetics, nor a reheated critique of crude materialism, but a response to Cardinal Levada’s call for a new kind of apologetics. I deliberately set Thomism along with sacred scripture against the most serious post‑materialist alternatives on offer today—panpsychism, emergentism, and various idealisms—and ask which framework offers the best overall explanation of the full pattern of evidence. My claim is that, once we stop treating the “big five anomolies of science” as scattered curiosities and start reading them as coordinated clues, classical Thomistic theism emerges as the hypothesis with the greatest explanatory scope, coherence, and unifying power. In this sense, Thomism is defended here precisely as an inference to the best explanation of our contemporary scientific and philosophical situation, nothing more and nothing less.
